Tommy Peoples & Paul Brady - High Part Of The Road

Tommy Peoples is justly regarded as one of Ireland's greatest fiddlers who plays in the unique fiddle style of East Donegal. He has been a member of well-known traditional Irish music groups, including 1691 and The Bothy Band as well as performing solo since the late 1960's. Tommy Peoples has a unique style, particularly his way of executing bowed triplets, one of the signatures of his playing. What makes his playing great is the combination of his mastery of the fiddle, the power and emotionalism that run through his playing, and his fluid bowing. He is accompanied on this rare 1976 album by the superb guitarist Paul Brady on a collection of reels and jigs that have become standards of the Irish fiddle repertoire.

Paul Brady - Welcome Here Kind Stranger

Originally released on the Mulligan label in 1978, Welcome Here Kind Stranger was the first solo Paul Brady record and featured Irish traditional music and songs. Produced by Paul and Donal Lunny, it included Paul on vocals, guitar, mandolin, bouzouki and tin whistle with guest appearances from Donal, Andy Irvine, Tommy Peoples on fiddle and Noel Hill on concertina. Hailed as a masterpiece shortly after its release, it was voted Folk album of the year in Britain’s leading music paper, The Melody Maker and has been consistently much sought after ever since.

Johnstons - Colours Of The Dawn

The Johnstons' fifth album Colours Of The Dawn released in 1971 was the last to include Mick Moloney in the lineup, and is devoted half to original material (composed by Paul Brady and Chris McCloud) and half to covers of songs by Gordon Lightfoot, Leonard Cohen, Peggy Seeger, and Ian Campbell.
